Laser Spine Institute featured on Tampa’s WFLA

WFLATampa Bay’s local NBC affiliate WFLA 8 aired a segment about Laser Spine Institute’s contribution to both the local community and the health care industry. The Thursday morning airing featured Laser Spine Institute’s Medical Director Dr. Michael Perry and surgeon, Dr. Stefan Prada.

Dr. Perry shared the results from a study that Laser Spine Institute recently published. The study examined 320 patients, ages 22 to 90, who were diagnosed with spinal stenosis in the lumbar region from 2009 to 2011. The findings showed that minimally invasive spine surgery is an effective alternative to open back surgery.

Laser Spine Institute’s approach to minimally invasive spine surgery is revolutionizing the health care industry. Laser Spine Institute performs surgical procedures through a less than 1-inch incision, Dr. Prada described, and does not cut through the muscle, so there is less blood loss, less risk of infection and a much quicker recovery compared to open back surgery.
