Laser Spine Institute surgeons are highly trained
At Laser Spine Institute, we specialize in dozens of conditions related to the spine. To provide excellent care, our staff is composed of physicians from various fields of study. As the spine is central to the health of the body as a whole, we have primary care physicians on staff along with physical therapists, anesthesiologists, orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons.
Surgeons, in particular, train for years before joining Laser Spine Institute. Before completing their residency, all surgeons spend four years attending general medical school. Following that time, they choose a specialty to complete their years of residency, which is when knowledge and experience will diversify according to the area of study. Many surgeons also complete fellowships after their residency, which lead to further specialized experience. The skills of both types of surgeons only serve to enhance the quality of patient care that Laser Spine Institute provides.
Neurosurgeons – As the name suggests, neurosurgeons specialize in procedures related to the brain, spinal cord, vertebrae and nerves. The residency of a neurosurgeon typically involves surgeries specifically focused on the central nervous system and brain, but it will also include surgeries involving any portion of the spine. And don’t be mislead by the “surgeon” aspect of the title. Neurosurgeons are experts in every aspect of patient care, from initial consultations to diagnostic tests, and to surgical procedures and postoperative care. By their involvement with all aspects of patient treatment, surgeons at Laser Spine Institute can provide unparalleled care for those they treat.
Orthopedic spine surgeons – Orthopedic surgery also concerns all portions of the spine. Residency for this specialty would additionally include focus on spinal deformities and corrective procedures such as scoliosis. Like neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons study the full range of spinal procedures, including nerve decompression surgeries and other techniques. Orthopedic surgeons are also experts in patient care and provide care for evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and recuperation.
At Laser Spine Institute, our physicians have a wide range of backgrounds – some from private medicine, some from military service. This diversity strengthens the quality of care that is provided to our patients as it allows for greater collaboration, the input of numerous specialists when consulting on patient treatment, and, ultimately, the best care possible for our patients.
